On December 3, the 2024 World Conference on Traditional Medicine opened in Beijing. With the theme of "Diversity, Inheritance and Innovation: Traditional Medicine for All", the conference brought together 611 overseas representatives from 85 countries and regions to conduct in-depth exchanges on the development of traditional medicine industry in various countries.
This conference has set up a government forum and nine academic parallel forums. On the afternoon of December 4th, the Parallel Forum Three - Forum on the Integrated Health Services (Tumor Theme), hosted by Guang'anmen Hospital, was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The forum set up two thematic sessions, clinical research and basic research, to exchange and share new methods, technologies, and theories of traditional medicine in tumor prevention and treatment. 11 renowned experts and scholars from China, the United States, Australia, South Korea, Iran and other countries and regions gave special presentations, and more than 140 domestic and foreign researchers in cancer and related fields participated in the seminar. HWASEUNG YOO, Director, East West Cancer Center and Integrative Immunotherapy Center, Daejeon University in South Korea, Feng Li, Director，Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine， National Cancer Center/ Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhang Haibo, Vice Director, Oncology Department, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Hou Wei, Director, Oncology Department Guang'anmen hospital, made special reports on the treatment and clinical research of non-small cell lung cancer, esophageal cancer, or special types of tumors with acupuncture and moxibustion or integrated traditional and western medicine.
HSIN-SHENG YANG, associate professor, Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology, University of Kentucky in the United States, DAVID ADELSON, professor and chairman of bioinformatics and Computational Genetics, School of Biological Sciences, University of Adelaide in Australia, Jiang Jiandong, academician, Member of Chinese Academy Engineering, and Song Shaojiang, vice president, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, made special reports respectively, introducing the research achievements and progress in the frontier field of cancer prevention and treatment from the aspects of concept verification of molecular action mechanism of traditional herbs, cancer differentiation inducers, mechanisms of inducing cancer cell apoptosis, mining of anti-tumor ingredients, etc. Li Jie, President of Guang 'anmen Hospital, made a concluding speech.
During the meeting, Tong Xiaolin, academician of the Chinese Academy Sciences, director of the Institute of Metabolic Disease in the Cuang'anmen hospital, participated in the Forum on the Integrated Health Services --- Metabolic Diseases and Others, gave a lecture on the theme of "Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes and Its Complications by Traditional Chinese Medicine", and presided over the Discussion and Exchange on " The New Paradigm of Integrative Research of Traditional and Modern Medicine". Jiang Quan, director of the Department of Rheumatology, participated in the Discussion and Exchange session of the forum.
