Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with its multiple modalities has been covered by China’s medical insurance which benefits the big population and makes TCM accessible for all people of the country. In overseas countries, some medical insurances include traditional medicine(TM) and TCM with various range of coverage, which bring the benefits for the patients and their family with one more choice.
Our team in GAMH has a keen interest in the coverage of TCM in overseas countries and has made our efforts in this area since 2007. By our efforts, we’ve successfully worked with BUPA and Cigna for their insurance coverage for TCM specialty services in our hospital. Meanwhile, we’ve kept on collecting information of this area and communicating with our counterparts overseas to promote TCM and TM coverage by medical insurance. Though there are so many challenges, we and our colleagues are working together for this and have kept on communicating in this field.
This time we are hoping that we can once again gather and discuss about overseas insurance coverage and TCM high quality development. We are trying to invite experts from Czech, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Israel to join our discussions.
