A few days ago, the Party Central Committee and the State Council on the study and implementation of the spirit of the Central Talent Work Conference and the National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents Commendation Conference was held in Beijing. Hu Chunhua, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the meeting and presented awards to the winners. Academician Tong Xiaolin from our hospital won the honorary title of "National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talent". A total of 93 technical talents and 97 advanced collectives were commended this year, of whom 3 individuals in the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) industry were selected as outstanding talents.
Tong Xiaolin, expert in internal medicine of TCM, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, leader of the key endocrinology discipline of the National Administration of TCM, is former vice president and professor of Guang'anmen Hospital. He has won the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, two second-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards, the National Innovation Award Medal, the National Advanced Individual in Fighting the COVID -19, and the Most Beautiful Scientific and Technological Worker.
Academician Tong Xiaolin has devoted himself to the teaching and research for a long time, reconstructing the TCM diagnosis and treatment system and modern herbal framework, creating state-target differentiation and treatment methods, and building a road of integration of TCM and Western medicine with combinations of disease and syndrome, and macro and micro studies. He systematically constructed the dose-effect theory of prescriptions, innovatively used ancient empirical prescriptions for difficult and complex diseases, and set a model for the modern development of traditional medicine.
During the COVID-19 period, he went to the front line many times, presided over the formulation of the national TCM diagnosis and treatment plan, created the "Wuchang Model" of community prevention and control, and provided a powerful TCM prevention and treatment system plan for the long-term response to new and sudden emergence of major infectious diseases.
As the principal investigator, he presided over more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial projects; edited 26 monographs; published 304 related academic papers, of which 76 were included in SCI; obtained 24 herbal medicine patents.
