On February 18, Guang'anmen Hospital held the " Exchange Forum (online) on the Development Trend and Future of China-Cambodia Traditional Medicine ". Lyu Wenliang, Vice President of Guang'anmen Hospital, Pen Sunna, former official of the Ministry of Health of Cambodia and Chairman of Green Kingdom Alliance Co., Ltd. attended the forum, and the heads of the International Cooperation Office, the Department of Preventive Health Care, and clinical experts attended the discussion. The forum was chaired by Cui Yongqiang, director of the International Cooperation Office.
Vice President Lyu Wenliang pointed out that traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has played an important role in COVID-19 prevention and control. The combination of TCM and western medicine and the combined use of TCM and western medicine are a major feature of this epidemic prevention and control, and it is also a vivid practice of TCM inheritance and innovation. He hoped that through this forum, the anti-epidemic experience of TCM and TCM represented by "three TCM drugs and three TCM formulas" will be popularized and applied to the world including Cambodia, so as to contribute to the construction of a community of human health.
Chairman Pen Sunna introduced the local COVID-19 prevention and control and the application and integration of traditional medicine into local medical system. TCM products have been used in Cambodia for the COVID-19 prevention and control, and the comprehensive prevention and control effect has been remarkable, with the morbidity and mortality dropping rapidly. He hoped to use China's experience in fighting COVID-19 to strengthen cooperation in traditional medicine, improve the level and strength of traditional medicine in Cambodia and improve the health of the Cambodian people.
Experts at the forum exchanged views on deepening cooperation in traditional medicine, TCM preventive health care and TCM appropriate techniques. From 2006 to 2016, the Cambodian Ministry of Health has dispatched health officials to participate in the "China-ASEAN and China-Asian Health Officials Traditional Medicine Conferences" hosted by Guang'anmen Hospital. At the 2013 China International Fair for Trade in Services, Cambodia Green Kingdom Alliance Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on service trade with Guang'anmen Hospital, laying a good foundation for China-Cambodia traditional medicine cooperation.
In this forum, the two sides discussed the opportunities and challenges of the development of TCM in Cambodia, and explored the international cooperation of traditional medicine under the PPP model, which provided a broader platform for deepening the cooperation of traditional medicine between China and Cambodia. In the future, the two sides will focus on the prevention and treatment of infectious, chronic and difficult diseases with TCM, and promote cooperation in scientific research, clinical training and trade in TCM services.
