Director of the Integrated Medical Services Department of the World Health Organization, Rudolf Richard Eggers and His Delegation Visited Guang'anmen Hospital

On the morning of April 27, Rudolf Richard Eggers, Director of the Department of Integrated Healthcare Services of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Dr. Kim Sungchol, Director of the Department of Traditional, Complementary and Integrated Medicine, visited to Guang'anmen hospital.
They successively visited the outpatient departments of respiratory and acupuncture, the ward of rheumatology, the commonly used external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), herbal medicine dispensing demonstration and hospital culture exhibition, and had a detailed understanding of the clinical application of TCM characteristics and advantages, giving full recognition to the achievements of scientific research and innovation of TCM.
Vice president Lyu Wenliang warmly welcomed the guests and gave a detailed introduction on the inheritance, innovation, development, and discipline construction of the hospital. He pointed out that TCM exchange and cooperation have become an important carrier to promote the construction of a human health community. Guang 'anmen hospital is willing to play its unique advantages and make greater contributions to the health and well-being of people around the world.
Vice president Li Jie introduced the unique characteristics and advantages of oncology department of the hospital, scientific research achievements and international cooperation with National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the US and other institutions.
Wu Jiani, from the acupuncture department, introduced the research achievements, leading at home and abroad, including Female Stress Urinary Incontinence, the disease for which TCM proves effective with relative advantages.
Zhao Yuanchen from the respiratory department introduced the research and development of " Xiao Chuan Gao for Preventing and Treating Winter Diseases in Summer " and the first large-scale application of this acupoint application therapy in clinical treatment in China.
Zhou Xinyao from rheumatology department introduced the characteristics of integrated TCM and Western medicine in diagnosis and treatment, the innovative research achievements, and the formulation and release of clinical guidelines in rheumatology.
Rudolf Richard Eggers highly valued to the hospital and affirmed the positive role that the hospital had played in promoting the global development of traditional medicine. He hoped to strengthen the evidence-based medicine research of TCM in the future, promote the establishment of a scientific system for TCM standardization of curative effect and evaluation, and contribute to obtaining more achievements in the globalization of traditional medicine.
In 2018, the National Administration of TCM and the WHO signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Traditional Medicine, which is an important measure to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and the WHO in the field of traditional medicine.
This visit deepened the cooperation and exchange between the hospital and the WHO in the field of traditional medicine, which is conducive to further strengthening China's role and influence in promoting the development of traditional medicine globally.
